Fritz Roñel Elemino is from Mantalongon, Dalaguete, Cebu, a mountainous town in Cebu province. Coming from the broken family, Fritz nevertheless grew up filled with care and love from this grandparents whom he treated as his parents.
At an early age of eight, I learned how to help my family by selling garbage such as plastics, bottles, and metals to earn extra money. This effort wasn’t enough for me to pursue high school so my stepfather was forced to send me back to my mother’s family (my grandparents) where I had a better chance of finishing high school.
Since then, Fritz was raised by his grandparents as their own child. His grandfather was working as a mechanical technician while his grandmother had a carinderia or small eatery to sustain their living.
Though I had a better life with my grandparents, I was still hopeless about being able to reach college as they were also supporting my aunt and two uncles who were also in college.
Fritz felt very happy to hear about the PN scholarship in their school; he thought it would be his best chance to pursue higher education. What made him even happier is that he passed the selection process of PN.
Luckily, I got accepted to be part of the PN scholarship and that’s where my life started to turn around completely.
As a student, Fritz was very dynamic. He was productive in academics while also earning estra money as a freelance web developer and designer during his free time.
The core values of ON which are Solidarity, Trust, Respect, Demand, And Responsibility are the values that molded me to become a better person while the skills that PN taught me are very solid foundations for me in getting jobs after graduation.
Three years after the graduation, Fritz started his own startup company. Since its operation in 2016, Fritz has been serving clients across the globe who ask for his expertise in web design and development.
Fritz’s grandparents have stopped working due to old age. On other hand, Fritz, who earns well from his own company, is now the one who supports them financially. Aside from this, Fritz is also the one who shoulders all the school fees and needs of this two younger half-siblings who are currently studying in college. His sister is currently studying hotel and Restaurant Management while his brother is studying Information Technology (following his footsteps as an IT master).
Back in their hometown, three families are living in their house; it is an extended family setting. Their house structure has improved a lot over the past years; thanks to Fritz’s main contribution. Together with his uncles, Fritz is continuously supporting in the construction of their family’s dream house.
If it was not for PN, I won’t be able to become who I am today; I’m probably still living in our province right now, married and jobless, I don’t think I would have made it to college either.
Fritz is now satisfied with the life that he has. Aside from being financially stable, he is also happy about being able to help his family. Fritz values the essence of family and that is why he is working hard to make them happy.
I’m very thankful to all people behind the mission of PN. to the PM staff and PN donors, thank you for the thoughtfulness and selflessness.
